In 10 days we may have 25 new classmates! These will be peeping and a ball of cuteness though. I candled the eggs after school today and was able to get some video of them moving around.
Our last day skating! Very slushy but nice and warm and fun, anyways!
Some students also did some bottle cap creations and block buildings.
The students used their prior knowledge to make a diagram after cracking open and observing a chicken egg and a duck egg. They were able to find all the parts of the egg we had discussed the previous day. We also discussed the differences between the 2 eggs that we had noticed. When we had finished they got to whip up the eggs and have scrambled eggs at the end of the day for a treat.
The class built and discussed the Anatomy of a Fertilized Egg. They used many different mediums for each part and labeled each part as we built the egg.
Shell- Brown Yarn
Albumen-Clear Contact Paper
Germination Spot-White Bead
The class also wrote poems about what they were saying Goodbye to from Winter and what they were saying hello to from Spring.
Since we got so much snow that week, we decided to go sledding and make huge snowmen!
Snacks and creative organization of our supplies! We also tried to draw th Cat in the Hat.
Our Recy-cled was a success! Not only did it stay together but it was pretty fast and went straight down the hill. It sounded like a jet. The first and second graders worked hard to put it together with cardboard boxes, cardboard screws(Mrs. Hook had been able to get from a Donors Choose campaign), gorilla tape, 2 plastic table clothes, and 1 Over the Hill sign from my 40th birthday! Don't forget our secret weapon, Pam sprayed on the bottom right before launch.
Assembly listening to letter from Evan Dybvig(past Tunbridge Olympian) and watching video of his qualifying run. Ended with a s-shaped spirit path back to our classrooms to work on sleds and flags.
