We participated in a workshop about floating and sinking. The students had fun predicting what objects would float and sink. Then they got to try each object. The next step was to try to float different shaped boats and see which ones floated the best. They tested it by putting pennies on them and seeing how many they could hold and stay afloat. We made a graph with boats and pennies to see which ones were the most successful. The last step as to make their very own boats out of aluminum foil and see how many pennies the boats could hold. Some of the students brought their boats out and tested them in the river out back and in the puddle as we were waiting to leave! Fun was to be had everywhere!

A volunteer, Mr. Bill, visited for five class periods over the past couple weeks to discuss family, jobs, wants and needs, and entrepreneurs. The students really enjoyed making their own "cake businesses" at the end.
