Thank You, Charlotte Mullen! (Our Secret Santa)
The skates and helmets were already put to good use yesterday during "The Polar Express"!

I am not sure who put them there but when I got to school, I had two white garbage bags in front of my door. Much to my surprise one bag was full of helmets and the other bag was full of skates!!!!
Thank you to our "Secret Santa" and we can not wait to use them after break! Great day of making presents for parents, picking out the perfect book for a sibling, and practicing our singing skills! The snow was much deeper today than in past hikes. We found animal tracks and followed them! Sometimes the easier way to get down the hill was to slide!
First and second graders got to measure and add ingredients to make the dough. Then they each got a dough ball to work into a pizza and top with sauce and cheese (pineapple if they wanted). We baked them in the oven while the classes were in specials and then each student got to have a late snack of the pizza that they had prepared.
Today for "free-time" we got into groups and worked on putting large puzzles together. As each group finished, they went to another group to help them. They were a little upset at not being able to choose their own activity but quickly became excited about putting the puzzles together.
Puzzles make great presents and can be found inexpensively at used stores! They really help teach kids to problem solve and to not be discouraged when they need to try a different method of solving the problem. |
