The 4th graders and Mr. Payson led the assembly discussing how if you see people through "empathy glasses" everyone feels better. They did a couple skits to demonstrate this and then a couple 4th graders came to each class to help us make our own empathy glasses.

Students learned about different aspects of sheep farming. They got to card wool and make their own little sheep. Then we had another taste test with different kinds of cheese.
Carding Wool from Rachel Brown on Vimeo. We planted squash, zucchini, spinach, radishes, and lettuce. Our Aguascalientes and zucchini look fantastic. Spinach a little spindly. Our radishes got root rot and our lettuce never came up. We are trying again! Our Vegetables Today
We talked about the season certain crops can be harvested in Vermont. A student was also dressed up to learn about parts of a plant. Then we made bracelets that symbolized what a seed needs to grow! Last we got to taste test vegetables. "Don't yuck my yum!"
The students learned all about cows today. One volunteer got to be dressed with the parts of the cow. Then we got to taste our butter on crackers.

The First and Second Graders in both classes got watch a chick hatch. They also drew and wrote about the chicks. We were lucky enough to have 18 hatch! The 4th grade also got to witness a chick hatching. The kindergarteners also got to come and watch the chicks. It was fun to have the chicks in class.
