It is as important to teach a child to love to read as it is to teach a child to read. Like most things reading is a skill that improves as you practice and as everyone knows if like to do something, you do it more! This week we were read to, got to drop everything and read, made masks of the book our class voted on, decorated our door like that book cover, and had an assembly to show off our costumes. The students were very interested in the fact that I had a book I was reading from home and so did Mr. Farnsworth. The beauty of Dr. Seuss is that he has many books at many different levels. The first graders were thrilled that they could read "Hop on Pop" and "The Cat in the Hat" independently. It will give them confidence to try more "real books" out of their comfort zone. Dr. Seuss books are also fun to read! Doors of TunbridgeAssemblyCandids |
